Robert Skelton MP
Increasing safety in our communities requires a cooperative approach.
We need parents to keep drug and alcohol abuse out of the family home.
We need the courts to properly use the tools at their disposal. And we need social media giants to deplatform kids who are boasting about criminal behaviour.
As a state government, the best way to ensure the safety of all Queenslanders is by backing our police on the frontline. Which is why I’m pleased to see record numbers of police recruits progressing through our academies right now.
In my first term as your local MP, I’m also proud to have fought to deliver new police stations in Cooroy and Nambour to ensure our local police have the best infrastructure available.
But it’s not just the police numbers and infrastructure which counts, it’s the tools we provide our local police with.
The first funding decision Steven Miles made when he became Premier was to deliver a police helicopter for Townsville. I’ve heard that the helicopter has helped curb criminal behaviour.
I believe that our local police and region deserve access to their own police helicopter to help with local policing efforts and deter would-be offenders.
That’s why I am calling on the Police Minister to deliver our own police helicopter to service the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Region.
in order for this proposal to succeed, I need your help.
Can I count on you to help me spread the word about this proposal and rally support from our fellow community members? Together, we can make a real difference and create a brighter future for us all.
